The Cavalier Cruise Logos - Entries Are In
The 2012 Cavalier Cruise logo entries are in!!!
Seniors can vote for their favorite logo on Wednesday, January 25, or Thursday, January 26, during lunch.
Click here to see the amazingly creative logos submitted by our Seniors.
What is the Cavalier Cruise?
It’s not an actual cruise on the Potomac or any other river.
It is the best all-night graduation party ever!
And it's organized by WTW parent volunteers!
There are no drugs or alcohol, just friends, fun and great food!
Please click the logo to check out our video presentation, and learn all about the Cavalier Cruise!
Where?? When??
Oak Marr Recreation Center
11:00 p.m. Thursday, June 14, 2012 - 5:00 a.m. Friday, June 15, 2012
Are There Activities?
You bet. The graduates can go swimming, scale a climbing wall,
enjoy an obstacle course and moon bounce, play mini-golf or
visit the casino for roulette, Texas Hold’em or Blackjack, get a
caricature, a tattoo, a massage or have their fortune told, make an MTV video,
ride the mechanical bull, win prizes – the list goes on and on!
We Need Your Help!
It takes a lot of mates to get the "ship" ready to set sail on June 14!
Some of the committees have volunteer coordinators already.
The ones in green are the ones that still need chairs. You don't have to do it alone!
Team up with a friend (or two), and sign up together. Here's a brief description of the committees:
- Director/Co-Director: Oversees the Cav Cruise committees,
hosts monthly meetings, coordinates communication via WEmail, newsletter, etc.
- Activities: Coordinates indoor/outdoor games and activities (Velcro wall,
casino, rock climbing wall, karaoke, mechanical bull, to name a few) with the help of an entertainment company.
- Baggage: Organizes/controls the "storing" of the graduates' personal items in a safe,
secure area for the evening.
- Cavalier Cash: Creates "play money" to spend on raffle tickets for prizes
(given with ticket purchase and earned throughout the evening).
- Decorations: Transforming the Oak Marr Recreation Center into a cruise ship!
- Donations: Solicits donations to help fund the Cav Cruise.
- Food: Organizes/plans the all night festival of food (water, soda, chocolate
fountains, Subway sandwiches, smoothies, ice cream, Asian smorgasbord, etc.).
- Photo Show: Collects, organizes, and arranges 2012 class photographs on a CD given to all graduates.
- Prizes: Secures the prizes for the Raffle drawings.
- Publicity: (Now, and throughout the year) Organizes the logo contest,
WEmail info, PTSO Newsletters, mailings, Winter Cav Cruise Kickoff, etc.
- Reservations: Selling tickets/tracking RSVPs throughout the year.
Providing "passports" to each graduate attending.
- Security: Organizes volunteers to maintain a secure environment for the evening.
- Ship Building: (June 14) Constructs the bow of a cruise ship at the entrance to Oak Marr!
- Spring Plant Sale: (Deliver in April.) Coordinates a spring flower/vegetable plant sale.
- Transportation: Transports items from Woodson to Oak Marr before and after the event.
- Valentine Balloon Sales: Coordinates the sale of Valentine's Day
balloons and messages to be delivered at school on Feb 14.
- Yard Signs: Organizes the sale of WTW yard signs (generic and congrats to the Class of 2012).
- 50/50 Raffle: Sells raffle tickets at home football games. The total collected is split by
the winner and Cav Cruise.
- Red Fox Inn Raffle: Coordinates the raffle of a donated stay at the Inn.
- Graduation Seat Raffle: (May thru June) Coordinates raffle for prime seating at graduation.
- Volunteer Coordinator: Coordinates the volunteers needed for each committee. Maintains a spreadsheet throughout the year and makes assignments for the celebration.
- VOLUNTEERS: Last but not least, we need a lot of parents at the
celebration: Two shifts: 10:30 p.m. - 2:30 a.m., 2:00 a.m. - 6:00 a.m. Or better yet, stay all night and enjoy the fun.
